Lakers News · Sean Baker, New SWHS Women’s Soccer Coach

Please join Southwest in welcoming new Varsity Women’s Soccer coach Sean Baker. Sean played division one soccer and earned his bachelor’s degree from Creighton University.

Sean comes to Southwest with over 15 years of experience developing elite players as well as managing the administrative responsibilities of a soccer club. Sean is respected within the Twin Cities community for passionately encouraging young soccer athletes and building skills as well as creating community. He successfully initiated an elite program that nurtures promising young coaches. Finally, Sean established a strong network of high school, club and college coaches in Minnesota.

“I’d like to expand the number of players in the women’s program by reaching out to freshman and actively encouraging early adoption of the sport, building strong relationships with current players in order retain upperclassmen, and helping make the soccer program look more like the demographics of the high school at large. I think there’s a significant opportunity to expand the demographic diversity of the SW women’s program and provide SW students who are not otherwise encouraged to participate in athletics a sports home,” Sean stated.
